A few evenings ago I was reviewing activities my aunt and I had planned for an upcoming nature program about reptiles. I thought of how these denizens of the animal kingdom strike fear in some, but they are also frequently used to symbolize transformation. In many cultural interpretations and symbols, snakes in particular are considered an auspicious sign signaling growth, change, and awakening.

At one end of the spectrum is a tendency to indulge emotions, drama; at the other end is an inclination to deny them, coldness. Both create problems; but feelings are inherently neither good nor bad, they’re a part of life.

It’s very probable that the elites and the successes are not disturbed by that fact and could not care less. But the phenomena merit some further explorations.
