I read today on a blog site “I’ve learned a lot about life by making a mess of my own.” And the only reason any of us could make a mess of our lives, is by trying to live like someone we are not!

I have been keeping a gratitude journal for some time now. Even though it has been in different forms, I have found that I feel empty when I am not using one.

We bite our nails during the news, smoke cigarettes when having a coffee in the morning, wake up in the morning just to procrastinate for the next 10 minutes and eat hamburgers because there was nothing else in the fridge while trying to lose weight… Sound familiar?

If you like this post, please buy me a beer for $3 8-)It always amazes me on how many times I hear people say they can’t do something because of this, that and the other thing. They usually point out why something won’t work and won’t even bother giving it a try. I think it’s easier for most people to find the reason why something won’t work because it’s it gives them an excuse and stops them before they even start.

Parents, guardians and teachers all have a significant impact on the development of children, that of all kinds of things, from morality and socialisation, interacting with others, learning the norms and values of their culture, to acquiring skills such as reading, writing and mathematics.

You would so much rather go for a day trip, have a massage , discover a new restaurant or just stay at home , eat leftovers and be lazy. Now, hand on heart, does anybody know about how you feel about this? Have you ever shared your feelings or expressed them directly? Probably not, because : a) you don’t want to be trouble, b) it’s important for your husband, c) it is a tradition, d) who would listen to you anyway, e) you don’t want any arguments, it’s Sunday, after all………….The list is endless.

If you like this post, please buy me a beer for $3 8-)The recession has hit all of us, and as awful as it is, especially for those who have lost their jobs or homes, it can be possible for something good to come out of all this misery. I know this, not only as a psychiatrist, but as someone who has downsized her life from a large, supposed dream house, to a 340 square foot RV - and is much happier for it.
